Faron Young was an American country musician born in 1932 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

He was the youngest of six children and grew up on his parents' dairy farm. Young received his first guitar at an early age and immediately began passionately learning to play. By the time he reached middle school, Young was already playing and singing with his own accompaniment.
It was during his high school years that he definitively decided to become a singer.
After a brief stint at Centenary College of Louisiana, Young began working at the radio station KWKH-AM in the early 1950s.
